Chris Wood

Chris Wood is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and producer, best known for his work in the genres of folk, rock, and jazz. Born on July 15, 1972, Wood gained prominence as one-half of the folk duo Medeski Martin & Wood, alongside keyboardist John Medeski and drummer Billy Martin. The group, formed in 1991, is celebrated for blending elements of jazz, funk, and avant-garde music, significantly impacting the jam band scene and contemporary jazz-fusion. Wood's notable works include the critically acclaimed albums "Shack-man" (1996) and "Combustication" (1998) with Medeski Martin & Wood, which showcase his virtuosic skills on the bass clarinet and saxophone. In addition to his work with the band, Wood has released solo projects, including "A Year of Mondays" (2019), which features a blend of personal storytelling and intricate musicianship.
